A few masked men are seen robbing the shop. They stole cash, cigarettes and…wait, what? Just one ice-cream? Why would a robber steal a single ice-cream?
He didn’t take more than one, so it’s not for the robbers themselves. Then who is it for? His child? Maybe he stole it for his child who had asked for an ice-cream once and her dad couldn’t get her one.
Sometimes people steal out of need than out of greed. Where many of us have plenty of food and clothes, many more can’t afford enough. So, to save their family from starving and fulfill their wishes, they sometimes steal.
The moral dilemma here is that who is at fault here. The person who steals food or those who force the person to become a thief?
A difficult but important question to think about and answer. Probably this man too was stealing the ice-cream for his little daughter at home.
Yes, he did wrong by stealing cash and other items, but what else could he probably do when he has no other means to fulfill his family’s needs?
Don’t they deserve a better and secure life? We think, they do.
